Container Drayage & Out of Gauge Cargo
Logistics Group International (LGI) is one of the premier third-party logistics providers in Houston, we have years of flat rack and intermodal container drayage experience at the Barbours Cut and Bayport Container Terminals as well as the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF), Union Pacific (UP) & Kansas City Southern (KCS) rail ramp. Drayage is the local trucking of flat racks, out of gauge flat racks & containerized cargo to and from the port or rail ramps to its final destination.
Out of Gauge Cargo
We understand not everything fits into a standard 20’ or 40’ container. Therefore, at LGI we can source flat racks or open top containers in both 20’ and 40’ to load your out of gauge cargo (OOG). Flat racks are required when cargo can only be side loaded or when cargo width exceeds 8’6”. Open Top containers are required when cargo height exceeds 7’8” but cargo width is within gauge at 8’ wide or less. Examples of cargo loaded on flat racks or open top containers is typically large machinery or equipment.
LGI experts can provide safe and timely transport for your out of gauge cargo anywhere in the US, Canada, or Mexico.
For cargo that is within gauge and will fit inside a standard 20’ or 40’ or high cube container, LGI can quickly and safely source containers from various container depots in the Houston area to meet your shipping needs. Cargo loaded in containers can vary greatly from finished goods to food or bulk commodities. In addition to sourcing flat racks and containers, LGI has the capabilities to offer transloading, cross-docking & storage.
