Volta PCB Sub Station Project 79' Long x 26' Wide x 19' High / 284,000 lbs

Volta PCB Sub Station Project 79' Long x 26' Wide x 19' High LGI was approached by Volta LLC to handle the transportation of a PCB building from their location in Houston to a local refinery in the La Porte area. After the initial site visit to Volta, we started the planning and permit process to meet the delivery date that was set by the customer Air Liquide. Over the course of the next 3 months, several site visits were made to the receiving site to monitor the progress of the ground work and overall job site . after discussing the options available, it was determined by the LGI team, that with proper planning, we would be able to utilize the Hydraulics of the Goldhofer trailer combined with appropriate matting, we would be able to position the building on it s piers, and eliminate the cost of two large cranes that would otherwise be needed to unload and place the building on the piers. Once inside the one week deadline to delivery, we started the process of placing the dozens of mats in a rather large jigsaw puzzle to assure there would be no issues with ground bearing pressures. As with the majority of our Over dimension moves, this would be another night move. For this move we had several police escorts, numerous bucket trucks, escort vehicles, as well as utility trucks needed to make this move successful. Departure was precisely 9:30pm, and went well into the early morning hours, finally arriving at the destination, at 4:00 am, one hour earlier than slated. We then returned with a second crew, and began the task of "self unloading" onto squat cans, and then reloaded onto a narrower S.P.M.T. to reach the final destination inside the plant, several tight turns were to be negotiated, as well as severe difference's in grade, once we were in position over the piers, between LGI and the engineers we came to a final resting spot, a mere ¼ inch off of the marks, all parties involved were more than satisfied with the overall success of the move, another job well done by the team at LGI on time & on Budget!!!
