Fire engines, fire trucks or other vehicles or apparatus belonging to any municipal corporation or to the volunteer fire department of any municipal corporation or used by such department in the discharge of its functions. Vehicles and pole trailers used in the transportation of wooden and metal poles, transportation of pipes or well drilling equipment, farm machinery and equipment.

PERMITS VALID FOR:
Single trip permits are valid for five (5) consecutive days.
Daytime only for over dimensional loads, loads that are only overweight may travel 24 hours a day provided they can keep up with the flow of traffic.
Travel is permitted seven (7) days a week, 24 hours a day for overweight loads, dimensions must be legal, loads up to 12′ wide may run daylight hours seven days a week, loads over 12′ wide are permitted until 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
All loads must be reduced.
A dozer with a blade exceeding 14′ wide must place a protector device on it, if not the blade shall be removed and hauled separately. A blade between 12′ and 14′ wide is restricted to a 25 mile radius unless a traffic protector device is used.
No restrictions on the dozer blade if width does not exceed 12′. No permits will be issued for dozers with blades attached over 15′ wide.
Special hauling permits may be issued for transporting wire mesh or bar mat up to 12′ wide provided plywood or similar sheeting protection covers both sides of the load.
No permits are required if legal dimensions are not exceeded for vehicles and pole trailers hauling wood or metal poles, pipes, well drilling equipment or farm machinery and equipment.
INFORMATION NEEDED TO ORDER A WIDE LOAD, OVERSIZE AND HEAVY HAUL PERMITS:
Tractor and trailer information including empty weight, tire sizes, load dimensions, overall description, make, model, gross weight, load weight, axle weights and spacings, origin, destination and routes. If picking up or delivering in the state, must have complete physical address.

|Note: Escort vehicles shall be required to maintain radio communication with the operator for the permitted vehicle and shall also be required to be equipped with a roof mounted amber flashing or rotating light(s). Driver of the escort vehicle is to act as a flagman when needed.
Lead escort vehicle, when required is to proceed 500 feet in advance of permit vehicle/load. Rear escort vehicle when required is to follow 500 feet behind permit vehicle/load.
Effective June 1, 2000 all commercial vehicles operated under a permit and escorted by the Ohio State Highway Patrol must have a MCSAP inspection prior to movement. Out of state inspections will not be honored unless the inspection resulted in a CVSA decal being awarded.

Travel is restricted for all loads in excess of 12′ wide within a 25 mile radius of Cincinnati, Cleveland and Columbus within the corporate limits of Akron, Canton, Dayton, Lima, Toledo and Youngstown between 6:30 – 9:00 A.M. and 4:40 – 6:00 P.M., no travel during inclement weather.

Overweight, Oversized & Wideload SuperLoads
Loads exceeding 120,000 lbs gross weight, 14’6″ high, 14’0″ wide are considered super loads. All essential details of proposed movements must be included (axle weights, spacings, number of tires, etc).
Allow 2 to 5 days for processing application
