EXEMPTIONS
Transporting poles, logs, timbers or metal in a case in which the load is not readily divisible
and such overhang does not interfere with steering the vehicle or if the vehicle is an emergency
fire fighting vehicle. A vehicle transporting loose hay or fodder may be driven on the ways of this
state when the overall width including load is more than 8'6" provided the excess over 8'6" is
solely due to the loose hay or fodder

PERMITS VALID FOR:
Single trip permits are valid for three (3) consecutive days.
OPERATING TIME
Sunrise to sunset, if overweight only continuous travel is allowed, loads not exceeding 12' wide,
15' high and/or 120,000 lbs will also be granted continuous travel but must be requested.
WEEKEND TRAVEL
Saturday sunrise to sunset, no Sunday travel
DIVISIBLE LOADS
A permit will not be issued for reducible loads, loads that can be shifted to make them legal or
loads that can be transferred to other trailers or equipment that will make them legal. The
disassembling of a load into legal dimensions, then moving the load in multiple truck/trailers
may be required.
EXCEPTIONS
Blades, buckets etc may be hauled intact provided they are blocked and angled at the highest
possible sitting and width must be minimized.
INFORMATION NEEDED TO ORDER A WIDE LOAD, OVERSIZE AND HEAVY HAUL PERMIT
Load description, destination, routes, shipper and consignee, year make, unit number, number of
axles on the truck and truck and trailer license number, if it is a mobile home the serial number
is required; if overweight need axle spacings and axle weights and if self-propelled need tire sizes.

Restricted Travel
Time and restrictions can be determined by each city, contact individual city for specific restrictions.
No travel allowed during inclement weather. Inclement weather may include ice and snow covered
highways, rain, snow, fog, smog, sleet or dust. High winds causing dust or wind-force sufficient to
cause the load to sway or to fail to follow substantially in the path of the towing vehicle. Poor
visibility caused by any condition which reduces visibility to less than 1,000'.
Vehicle may have to pull off the road to allow traffic to pass from behind an oversize or overweight
permitted move. Travel in convoys is prohibited.
Vehicles traveling under oversize permit authority requiring an escort requires that each load must
have an individual escort.

SPRING WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS
No restrictions.
Overweight, Oversized & Wide Load Super Loads
Loads in excess of routine issue limits shall submit an application including sketches, axle weights
and spacings to the state. For loads 20' wide contact State Police, 16' high loads needs a written
route survey, over 18' high contact the utility company, loads of 190' long or greater and over,
200,000 lbs contact the Highway Department. Requires 1 to 2 weeks in advance to process request.
