EXEMPTIONS
The provisions with respect to maximum width do not apply to implements of husbandry
incidentally operated, transported, moved or towed over a highway. If an implement of
husbandry is transported or moved as a load on another vehicle over 1.) a highway which is
part of the national system of interstate and defense highways if the load exceeds 8'6" in width
or 2.) any other highway if the load exceeds 10' in width.
The vehicle and load must not be operated for a distance of more than 25 miles from the point-of-
origin of the trip and must not be operated at a speed in excess of 30 m.p.h.
Vehicles carrying a load of loosely piled agricultural products such as hay, straw or leguminous plants
in bulk but not crated, bales, boxed or sacked, the load and any loading racks retaining the load must
not exceed 10' in width.

| Trip permits are reviewed on an individual basis only (length, width, height). Loads 17' wide or greater and 16' high and greater require special approval. If load exceeds any of these dimensions or 180,000 lbs., refer to the section on Super Loads. | ||
PERMITS VALID FOR:
Single trip permits are valid for five (5) travel days, one trip only. Consecutive days if weekend
travel is authorized, if weekend travel is not authorized then use business days. Annual multiple
trip permits are valid up to 12 months from date of issue.
OPERATING TIME
Moves during hours of darkness and on weekends are prohibited except that vehicles or vehicle
combinations and loads not exceeding 75' in overall length including overhang and those vehicles
and vehicle combinations that are overweight and are otherwise legal may be moved during hours
of darkness and on Saturdays and Sundays.
At the time of order we get all the dimensions, you still need to request night, weekend and holiday
travel if you want it. The dimensions are: NIGHT: (2 lanes), 10"W, 15'H, 105'L, 10' Overhang, NIGHT
(4land): 10'W, 15'H, 110'L, 10' Overhang. WEEKEND (2 lanes): 14'W, 15'H, 105'L, 15' Overhang,
WEEKEND (4 lane): 14'W, 15'H, 110'L, 15' Overhang, HOLIDAY (2 land): 10'W, 15'H, 105'L, 15' Overhang,
HOLIDAY (4 lane): 10'W, 15'H, 110'L, 15' Overhang.
WEEKEND TRAVEL
Vehicles below the following dimensions: 14' wide, 16' high, 105' long, 15' overhang - can travel
weekends but cannot travel I-80 between Reno and CA line & I-15 between Las Vegas and CA line
unless they meet holiday travel restrictions. Vehicles greater than the above dimensions are
restricted to travel on Monday through Friday.
DIVISIBLE LOADS
The Department will not issue permits for those vehicles or vehicle combinations and loads that
are reducible in length, width or height.
Loads which are transported under authority of a permit shall be non-reducible in nature in length,
width and height. This includes items of machinery, construction equipment, fabricated units,
mobile cranes, off-highway trucks, earth moving equipment, etc. Blades or rippers attached to
tractors are considered as part of the machine and therefore are non-reducible.
EXCEPTIONS
Blades do not have to be removed, if bucked or counterweights, they can be removed they should
be, if overweight haul separately.
INFORMATION NEEDED TO ORDER A WIDE LOAD, OVERSIZE AND HEAVY HAUL PERMITS:
Applicant's name and address, load description, vehicle description, tractor unit, trailer license, trailer
length, overall dimensions, total number of axles, overhang front and rear, gross weight, origin and
destination routes.

SPRING WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS
Frost laws from February 1, through April 30, (approximately) during this time certain routes are
restricted and if traveling on those routes you must be legal on your axles.
Overweight, Oversized & Wideload SuperLoads
Each load is reviewed individually and it depends on routes and axle spacings, if the Department wants a
special review a drawing including axle spacings and weight will be required.
