EXEMPTIONS
Loads 8'6" wide or excess length does not apply to farm equipment in temporary movement during daylight hours in normal course of farm operation, public utility and other construction and maintenance material equipment is exempt from length requirements.

PERMITS VALID FOR:
Single trip permits are valid for ten (10) consecutive days.

OPERATING TIME
One-half hour before sunrise until one-half hour after sunset

WEEKEND TRAVEL
Travel seven days a week, one half hour before sunrise until one half hour after sunset

DIVISIBLE LOADS
No permit shall be issued for a vehicle carrying a load which can be dismantled or reduced in size or weight (without great difficulty) a load shall be so transported by a vehicle or combination of vehicles so that the least width or length dimension becomes the width of the load

EXCEPTIONS
Removal of buckets, booms, counterweights, blades, etc is decided on a case by case basis. Blades that are over 14' wide are usually removed and hauled separately. Buckets and booms are usually considered as part of the equipment and are allowed to be hauled attached.

INFORMATION NEEDED TO ORDER A WIDE LOAD, OVERSIZE AND HEAVY HAUL PERMITS:
Make of truck and trailer, license number of truck and trailer, licensed or prorated weight, load description, overall dimensions, semi-trailer and load, length, total gross weight, weight on axle, individual axle spacings, origin, destination and where to send the permit.

ESCORTS FOR WIDELOAD AND OVERSIZED SHIPPING

Department of Roads reserves the right to require an escort vehicle for the front and rear of over dimensional vehicle or loads at any time the Department determines it to be necessary for safety purposes

SPRING WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS
Nebraska does not post spring restrictions as such but does have certain highways restricted to no overweight permits issued during a certain period of time when the frost is coming out of the ground.

Overweight, Oversized & Wideload SuperLoads
Loads 14' wide and 110,000 lbs are considered super loads. Loads over 16' high need a route survey. Drawings must accompany request showing axle spacing weights. Allow 2-5 days for approval.
