PERMITS VALID FOR:
Single trip permits are valid for five (5) consecutive days.
OPERATING TIME
One-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset.
WEEKEND TRAVEL
Loads over 10’ wide and doesn’t exceed 14’ wide may travel until 12:00 noon on Saturday.
Loads 10’ wide and under and have legal trailer length, not exceeding 14’6” high, may travel
one-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset Saturday and Sunday. Weekend
travel must be requested.
DIVISIBLE LOADS
Loads must be dismantled to the least possible dimension and/or weight.
EXCEPTIONS
Blades, buckets, counterweights, etc may be hauled attached up to 16’ wide, only if it cannot
be reduced (welded parts). Parts may be hauled on the same vehicle.
INFORMATION NEEDED TO ORDER A WIDELOAD, OVERSIZE AND HEAVY HAUL PERMIT
Company address, proof of insurance or bond on file, description of load, method of
movement, overall loaded dimensions (maximum load height, length, width and gross
weight), total number of axles, axle spacings, axle weights, origin, destination and routes.
Route survey (written): Loads over 15’ high, over 14’6” high on some 2-lane routes. (Over 14’ high or over 8’6” wide not allowed on FL Turnpike)
The survey should contain the following information:
1. Must be submitted on the hauler’s company letterhead.
2. Must state that the survey was completed by either a company escort car or an
escort company.
3. Must include a statement saying that the survey was done no more than seven days
prior to the submission of completed application.
4. Survey height must be at least six (6) inches above the height requested on the application.
5. The route on the survey letter must match the route requested on the application and must
state that it was successfully cleared.
6. Must be signed by the hauler.
ESCORTS FOR WIDELOAD AND OVERSIZED SHIPPING
Escort vehicle warning sign to be placed on top of the escort vehicle and visible from both front and rear.
Note: Effective 1/16/96, escorts must be certified to operate in Florida #352-392-2371 ext 298.
Requirements include courses on defensive driving and worksite traffic. (Escorts already
certified in another state will be acceptable for loads whose origin or destination is outside of
Florida and escort resides out of state)

Restricted Travel
Vehicles over 12’ wide must travel between 12:00 midnight and 6:00 a.m. from Tavernier South to Key West.
No movement is allowed from 7:00-9:00 a.m. and 4:00-6:00 p.m. in Hillsboro County and Dade County.
Movement will be prohibited at any time when visibility is impaired due to smoke, fog, rain or when visibility is less than 1,000’. When traffic following a load accumulates to 7 cars, the permitted load must yield the right-of-way for the vehicles to pass at the nearest accessible place.
SPRING WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS
No restrictions.

Overweight, Oversized & Wideload SuperLoads
Loads over 15’ wide, 15’ high or 150’ long are considered super loads. Applications must be submitted in writing with information to include axle spacings, weights and proposed route. Height survey required over 15’ high.
Allow ten days for processing.
