| *On the national network if the semi-trailer is less than 48' there are no kingpin requirements. On the
national network semi-trailers up to 53' must follow the following requirements: kingpin to centerline

OVERHANG 3’ front overhang, 4’ front overhang when the load is composed solely of vehicles and the load shall not extend to the rear beyond the last point of support for a greater distance than that equal to two-thirds of the length of the wheelbase of the vehicle carrying such load. For the wheelbase measurement it is the distance from the last axle of the power unit to the last axle of the semi-trailer.

PERMITS VALID FOR:
Single trip permits are valid for five (5) travel days. Extensions and revisions may be granted,
the fee is $16.
OPERATING TIME
Travel is allowed 24hours a day, 7 days a week (but must be requested at time of order) unless an
escort is required or load exceeds a 2 vehicle configuration; or exceeds green loading weight or
a detour is required, width does exceed lane width. In this case it is restricted to one-half hour
before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset.
WEEKEND TRAVEL
Weekend travel is allowed when no escort is required as long as vehicle combination does not
exceed 2 vehicles and loading does not exceed “green” weight. No travel if load requires detours
off state routes, otherwise no travel on weekends.

Must be reduced to its lowest possible form
EXCEPTIONS
Blades, buckets, counterweights, etc. do not need to be removed. Booms, mast, machinery or other
equipment which is not attendant to the efficient operation of the body of the vehicle but which
may be attached to the body or chassis or connected with the driving mechanism, shall be regarded
as part of the load.
INFORMATION NEEDED TO ORDER A WIDELOAD, OVERSIZE AND HEAVY HAUL PERMITS
Name and address of the applicant, load description, load dimensions unless hauling earth moving
equipment, make, model, serial number, vehicle description, serial number on additional equipment
and additional axles, trailer length, empty length, overall dimensions and weights, total number of
axles, number of axles on the tractor, number of axles on the trailer, kingpin setting, type of
suspension, axle width if overweight on both the truck and trailer, trailer type, overhang, origin,
destination and routes.

Restricted Travel
Operators of vehicles over 10’ in width may not travel Monday through Friday through the following areas at the times noted:

*Loads over 11' wide and all over height loads require highway patrol escort. Over 12' wide the travel Is restricted to 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. Call 707-648-4180.

SPRING WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS
Summer weight restrictions: when on San Bernardino County desert roads, permit travel for an overweight load is allowed only until 10:00 a.m. from June 1st until October 15th.
Overweight, Oversized & Wideload SuperLoads
Loads exceeding 15' wide or 135' long or 17' high are considered super loads. Engineer drawings and justification is required on all applications; special variance must be approved and may require a thirty-day notice.
