LGI handled all logistics of this move including numerous site visits
throughout the fabrication to constantly keep an eye on progress of the
module and stay in close communication with the fabricator to assist
with any questions that might arise that would involve the correct
shipping of this piece. On the first site visit it was explained that
the piece, after final assembly , would need to be lifted with Gantry's
in order to load onto the trailer, due to the layout and the dimensions
of the load beams, it was quickly determined that if the module was
raised up 10" before it was built, utilizing I-Beam spacers under each
leg, then the Goldhofer trailer used, could "self load" , eliminating
the added cost of Gantry's, ultimately saving the customer Thousands of
dollars. The close eye of our sales team is what separates LGI apart
from other companies, we care about what we do and want to further our
relationships with our customers, as well as establish new relationships
as well. This move was executed after hours, as an over dimensional load
of this size, is not permitted to travel during light hours, the convoy
of trucks escorts and police vehicles left the fabricator at precisely
9:15 pm and traveled through the night, negotiating several tight turns
and numerous steep grade rail road tracks, arriving at the destination
at 12:30 am. We then returned the next morning and again maneuvered our
way through the Shell Oil facility to arrive at the 750 ton Demag crane
, which was used to lift the module into its final place. Several months
of meticulous planning resulted in a flawless move with no harm to
either workers or the cargo.
